with Sobia Shaikh and Santiago Guzmán
Stages of Transformation is a project developed by the National Arts Centre that takes up the imperatives of abolition movements and transformative justice frameworks and investigates their applications to our work in the theatre sector.
TODOS Productions engaged Sobia Shaikh as the artist-in-residence for this initiative alongside Santiago Guzmán as her dramaturge.
In October, 2022, Shaikh and Guzmán attended a weekend-long retreat with fellow company leaders and their respective artists-in-residence to engage in thoughtful dialogue about abolition in theatre. Seeds of their collaboration were planted and explored through devised theatre techniques.
Shaikh and Guzmán will travel to Vancouver in May 2023 to present her work-in-progress at Tremors Festival with Rumble Theatre.
